The new 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport has seen some significant redesigns from previous generations. From the new, more powerful engine to a more luxurious interior, the VW Atlas Cross Sport could be poised to become one of their most popular SUVs. The powertrain is definitely one of the biggest improvements over the previous year's model. Its new 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine provides greater efficiency and better power than the 2023 V6 engine. These performance upgrades allow for more responsive acceleration, greater towing capacity, and better fuel efficiency.

The new interior design has been packed full of luxury features, including a leatherette soft-touch dash, ventilated front seats, and available leather seats. Climate control has also been improved by adding a three-zone climate control functionality to keep everyone at their preferred temperatures. The heated seats and steering wheel provide an added level of warmth for those cold days. Standard tech now features a larger multimedia infotainment display, the VW digital cockpit, and even an available head-up display. All models have easy connectivity, so listening to your favorite songs, navigating with your phone's GPS, and receiving calls are very easy and intuitive.

Volkswagen regards safety as one of its core guiding principles. A good vehicle is a safe vehicle, and thus—included with the new Atlas Cross Sport—is a full suite of driver assistance technology, enabling drivers to travel safely to their destination and back. This technology is the best in the industry, and it is just another reason why the VW Atlas Cross Sport is an exciting and all-around impressive midsize SUV.

  • Interior

The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport has many interior upgrades over the 2023 version. Volkswagen really wanted to improve the luxury of the 2024 model, and they succeeded. The VW design team made a modern, elegant, and upscale interior that exudes luxury in every facet of this design. Every trim comes with a 12.0-inch infotainment screen—significantly larger than the previous model's 10.25-inch display. Every trim also gets the digital cockpit system, which keeps your vehicle information ready at hand and easy to see on your dashboard.

The premium materials of the seat, dash, and steering wheel have been upgraded as well; leatherette provides a soft touch dashboard that looks as stylish as it feels. Premium leather ornamentation is available in the top trim, while other premium fabrics are available on lower trims. Shifting paddles are also included on the steering wheel so the driver can have total control of the eight-speed transmission at all times. Of course, the transmission can also be set to automatic if the driver is looking for a less hands-on approach.

Sitting in the third row in most midsize SUVs is often far from ideal, given that legroom and headroom are usually too restricted for adult comfort. However, the Atlas Cross Sport provides the best-in-class third-row legroom, allowing for much more comfortable seating in all three rows. Whether short or long trips are in your future, the VW Atlas Cross Sport has you, your friends, and your family covered.

Another major improvement has been in climate control, wherein VW added an available three-zone climate management system. Now, all three rows of occupants can tune the temperature and airflow to their preference. Thanks to this modern and efficient climate control system, the Atlas Cross Sport quickly gets to your set temperature and holds it well. Not only is the air controlled to provide comfort, but the seats and steering wheel also help. The front seats now come standard with ventilation, keeping both front occupants cool on hot days, and the available heated seats will keep you warm in the winter. The steering wheel is heated now, too, to keep your hands warm in even the coldest of weather.

Everyone these days has smartphones, tablets, or both. Road trips can drain the batteries of these devices, especially when streaming media or using navigation apps. Thankfully, VW has put six USB-C charging ports (each with 45-watt fast charging) in the Atlas Cross Sport, now standard across all model trims. Six ports are sufficient, and yet a total of eight can be furnished with the right trim. A wireless charging deck is also available to ensure that recharging is easy and fast. Thanks to the forward-thinking designers at Volkswagen, all your devices can be easily kept at 100% with ready access to USB-C and wireless charging.

  • Power

The exterior has seen some improvements as well, from the grille to new wheels. The grille has been redesigned with four chrome bars framed by LED lights, giving a sharp and stylish look to the front of the 2024 Atlas Cross Sport. Also available for this newest version are newly designed wheels with either 18- or 20-inch diameters. These provide a great accent to the new grille and make the exterior design of the Atlas Cross Sport really pop. Specialized LED lights come with select trim models, which really takes the new Atlas Cross Sport's appearance to the next level.

The new powertrain underwent significant performance improvements over the last generation. The new 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine has an impressive 269 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. This is more horsepower and torque than the 3.6L VR-6 engine of the previous model year. This engine provides improved fuel efficiency by using fewer cylinders and relying, again, on the potent resourcefulness of the VW turbo, which boosts performance to as stellar of levels as ever. The Volkswagen team's advanced engineering has gifted the Atlas Cross Sport with an amazing blend of efficiency and performance, somehow making it more powerful and more efficient than the previous year's model. Towing capacity has also been improved to 5,000 lbs, allowing for the transport of significantly greater loads.

The eight-speed automatic transmission helps achieve a high level of performance by keeping the SUV at optimal RPM for a greater range of speeds, which allows the engine to provide power to the wheels with higher efficiency, ensuring the engine's output is effectively distributed. The Atlas Cross Sport comes with front-wheel drive as its standard, but it can be equipped with the Volkswagen 4Motion all-wheel drive should you desire increased utility. The upgraded AWD allows drivers to maximize the strengths of their VW with greater ease, both on and off the road. All-wheel drive gives greater control when higher traction is needed; for example, conditions like snow, mud, gravel, and rain can make FWD vehicles lose traction—and thus, drivers lose control of their vehicle—whereas AWD improves traction and thus control.

  • Safety

The Volkswagen safety suite—IQ.DRIVE—puts everyone's mind at ease, as this advanced technology improves safety for everyone both inside and outside of the vehicle. With continuous monitoring of the vehicle's surroundings, accidents can be avoided more often; whether a pedestrian forgets to look when crossing the street, another vehicle suddenly slams on the brakes, or the driver loses focus for a second, IQ.DRIVE helps convert these scenarios from collision to close call.

The main features available are Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Front Assist, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist, each of which adds to the driver's peace of mind. These specialized technologies assist the driver in easily navigating cities and highways alike; from keeping a consistent and safe distance from the vehicle in front of you to braking faster than the other driver can react, the safety features of the VW Atlas Cross Sport does everything possible to make driving a safer activity.
